This is to inform the Neuroscience Community on the passing away of Prof. Theresa Ekanem of the University of Calabar, Nigeria, after a brief illness.
She was the immediate past President of the Neuroscience Society of Nigeria and member of the IBRO African Regional Committee, as well as President of the Anatomical Society of Nigeria. She was also an awardee of the IBRO Global Engagement Seed Grant.
She was an alumnus of the University of Calabar, and the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife in Nigeria. The first female Nigerian Professor of Anatomy, an academic advisor to many, with some rising to professorship. She will be greatly missed.
